Ground Breaking Ceremony for 191 Creditview Road–The new home of YUM!

Thursday, September 13, 2012 marked the start of an exciting new era for the Canadian operations of YUM!, the world’s largest restaurant company in terms of system units. YUM! has more than 37,000 restaurants in 117 countries and owns the KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell brands.Construction has now started at the new; custom designed 4-floor Leed Certified building, located at 191 Creditview Road in Vaughan where YUM! will occupy 2 floors to accommodate their state of the art test kitchen and Restaurant Support Centre staff.Attending the groundbreaking ceremonies for YUM! Canada’s new corporate head office were Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, Councillors Michael Di Biase and Tony Carella and YUM!’s president, Sabir Sami together with several members of his management team. Representing Condor Properties who will be responsible for constructing YUM!’s new building were company directors Nancy DeGasperis, Romeo DeGasperis and Sam Balsamo and several members of Condor’s leasing, financing, planning and construction teams.The project is a true collaboration between a private company (Condor Properties), a public company (YUM!) and Government (the City of Vaughan). According to Condor President Sam Balsamo, “Condor (is) proud of this project because it symbolizes and captures the very essence of what a multi-level partnership really means when private sector and government come together with a single vision and objective, to meet the client’s needs.” At the groundbreaking ceremony, Sam also thanked John Powell and Scott Cowie of Colliers International who facilitated the transaction between YUM! and Condor. YUM! expects to be occupying it’s new home by the fall of 2013.
